April
April 14 – Bluegrass Jam at Presser Hall in Mexico.
April 20 – Miss Paris contest.
April 21 – Humungus Fungus Amongus Festival at Mark Twain Lake.
April 27-29 – Fifth annual Just Girls Getaway Weekend in Hannibal.
Shops, restaurants, and attractions all focus on women’s interests.
April 28-29 – 50 Miles of Art Studio Tour. Drive along the mighty
Mississippi on scenic Route 79 from Hannibal to Clarksville and visit
the studios of some of Missouri’s best-known artisans. Provides a
unique, behind-the-scenes view into how their work is created.

May
May 5 – Paris All-Town garage sales; Citywide Garage Sale in Monroe
City; Farmers Market season opens at Hardin Park in Mexico, 8:00 a.m.
to noon.
May 12 – Festival of the Arts/Epple Art Show at Missouri Military
Academy in Mexico.
May 12 – Loafers Club Car Show in historic downtown Hannibal;
Longbeard Turkey Federation annual banquet in Monroe City.
May 26-27 – Mississippi River Art Fair in Hannibal’s Historic District,
featuring works of 50 Midwest artists and artisans, food booths and
entertainment.

June
June – Farmers’ Market opens in Paris.
June (TBA) – Kids Fishing Day at Mark Twain Lake. Children ages 5-12
will get the opportunity to test their fishing skills and learn fishing
techniques at the Frank Russell Recreation Area. Participation is
limited and advance signup is required; New London Park Days on the
courthouse square in New London. Features activities, pageants,
entertainment and food booths. Youth Fiddle Camp in Bethel German
Colony; Fiddle Festival in Bethel German Colony.
June 1-3 – Sesquicentennial events in Monroe City.
June 3 – Tri-County Cruisers Car Show in Monroe City.
June 6-9 – Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant at Missouri Military
Academy in Mexico.
June 16 – Juneteenth Celebration features a basketball tournament,
singing, music, performers, food and more.
June 18-22 – Monroe County 4-H Camp.
June 29, 30 - July 1 – Mark Twain Lake Rodeo at Warren G. See South
Spillway Recreation Area. Bulls, bucking broncos, clowns, food and
fireworks are part of this popular event.

July
July 4-7 – Annual National Tom Sawyer Days in downtown Hannibal. Join
in activities as the fence painting, frog jumping, Tomboy Sawyer
competition, Arts and Crafts Show, mud volleyball, bingo, live
entertainment and more. A fireworks display is held at the riverfront.
Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher are also selected. Also includes Hannibal
Cannibal 10K Run.
July 7 – 12th annual Hannibal Cannibal 10K Run & 5 K Walk, sponsored
by Hannibal Regional Hospital. Held during National Tom Sawyer Days.
July 13-15 – Mark Twain Old Threshers Show in Paris, featuring steam
engines and antique machinery.
July 15 – Swinkey Picnic at Indian Creek; Missouri Symphony Orchestra
at Presser Hall in Mexico.
July 19-29 – Monroe County Fair in Paris.
July (TBA) – Hunnewell Homecoming.

August
Aug. 4 – Wild and Wacky Art Adventure art festival for children 3-12 in
Hannibal.
Aug. 10-11 – Truck & Tractor Pull in Monroe City.
Aug. 11 & 12 - 24th Annual Salt River Folklife Festival in Florida,
Mo., from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days. See the birthplace of Samuel
Clemens come alive with 1800s crafts, singing, food and activities.
August 18 – Mexico Elks Military Appreciation Day and Zenith Aircraft
Company Open Hanger Day in Mexico.
Aug. 25 – Tri-County 4X4 Mud Run in Monroe City.
Labor Day weekend – Heritage Fall Festival in Bethel German Colony.
Folk art demonstrations, activities, crafts, German food, entertainment
and more.

September
Thursdays in September – Sunset Festival on the Square in
Mexico.
Sept. 11 – Paris Chamber of Commerce annual banquet.
Sept. 15 – Paris All-Town garage sales.
Sept. 28-30 – “A Walk Back in Time,” Audrain County Historical Society,
in Mexico.
Sept. 22 – 5th annual Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Mosswood
Meadows in Monroe City.
Sept. 28 – Paris Homecoming.
Sep. 29 – Cast for Kids at Mark Twain Lake. Preregistration required.

October
Oct. (TBA) – 19th annual Pike County, Ill., Color Drive. Features
activities and events in more than a dozen Pike County, Ill.,
communities with crafts, family activities and food and farm produce,
as well as a chance to enjoy the beautiful colors of autumn; Halloween
Campground at Mark Twain Lake.
Oct.6 – Citywide garage sale in Monroe City; Arts in the Park in Monroe
City.
Oct. 13 – Fall In To Paris celebration.
Oct. 20-21 – Autumn Historic Folklife Festival. Artisans in period
dress demonstrate lifestyles and crafts of the mid-1800s in Hannibal’s
Historic District.

November

Nov. 16-17 – Land of Mark Twain Bluegrass Festival at Hannibal Inn &
Conference Center. Lots of pickin’ and grinnin’. Talented people
compete for the championships and provide Bluegrass demonstrations and
entertainment.
Nov. 17 – H.I.S. K.I.D.S. Santa’s Workshop at Mark Twain Cave Theatre.
Nov. 24 – Craft Show at Paris High School.

December
December (TBA) – Christmas in Bethel, a toast to German Christmas
traditions; Kansas City Southern’s Holiday Express in Mexico.
Dec. 1 – Christmas parade in Monroe City.
Dec. 2 – Tour of Homes in Monroe City.
Dec. 7 – Paris Christmas Parade and merchants’ promotions.
Dates to be announced for events in Perry – Fall Festival; Fall and
Spring yard sale; Perry Time Was Festival; Perry Old Fashioned
Christmas.
Dec. 7-8 – Tom and Huck Marble Show in Hannibal.
Dec. 15 – Live Nativity scene in Monroe City.
