Mark Twain Lake, August 4, 2008 -The Corps of Engineers will reopen
the Ray Behrens Campground, M.W. Boudreaux Day Use Area and Spalding Day Use
Area on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Mark Twain Lake has also reopened to boating
with several restrictions for the safety of boaters. The following boating
restrictions are in place due to the large amount of floating and submerged
debris and evolving dam operations. (1) Recreation on the lake is restricted
to daylight hours (sunrise to sunset) only. (2) A NO BOATING ZONE has been
established in front of Cannon Dam. Boaters must remain a minimum of 1,000
feet from the dam due to gate releases. (3) Some areas may not be
accessible due to low bridge clearance. Operate your boat slowly and wear
your life jacket. The public areas with restrictions will be monitored by
lake personnel and law enforcement officials.
As the lake elevation and releases from the dam decrease visitors
will see other facilities reopened as soon as repairs and safety inspections
are complete. We are working closely with local, State, and other Federal
officials in emphasizing safety to the public and providing updated
information. The Corps of Engineers would like to remind people in the Salt
River valley to monitor media updates and follow the advice of local
emergency response personnel.
Lake elevations may be monitored on the internet at:

River link and scrolling down to the Clarence Cannon-Mark Twain Lake Pool.
