Mark Twain Lake, August 7, 2008 - On Friday, August 8, 2008 the
Corps of Engineers will lift the daylight boating restriction. The NO BOATING
ZONE established in front of Cannon Dam will remain in effect in the
interests of public safety. Boaters must remain a minimum of 1,000 feet from
the dam due to gate releases. Boaters are also reminded to watch for
floating and submerged debris. Operate your boat slowly and wear your life
jacket. The public areas with restrictions will be monitored by lake
personnel and law enforcement officials.

As the lake elevation and releases from the dam decrease visitors
will see other facilities reopened as soon as repairs and safety inspections
are complete. This includes the transition from high water ramp access to
normal ramp access.

Areas that remain closed include John Spalding Beach, Indian Creek
Beach, Warren G. See North and South Spillway Recreation Areas, Joanna &
Lick Creek Trails and Hunter-Fisherman # 11 (Rt N), #20 (Hwy FF), #30 (Rt U),
#12, #41(Elkfork), #23, the Duane Wheelan Access, #70 and #71, and Bluffview.
