April 12, 2011, Mark Twain Lake - Each year Earth Day is celebrated across
the world in honor of the planet which sustains us. Mark Twain Lake invites
you to join the celebration on April 23, 2011 by participating with our
partners in activities scheduled in the Frank Russell Recreation Area and the
M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center. Fun-filled learning opportunities
and adventures for the young, and the young at heart will be experienced
during this event, so mark it on your calendars.
Earth Day activities will begin at 9:00 am. If your interests are in
gardening, come see how native Missouri plants can be blended into your
landscape. Perhaps there is a budding carpenter in your family, then bring
them to the lake to learn how to build a toad house for your garden. Or for
the person with the soul of an explorer, then perhaps the challenge of
finding hidden treasures will entice you to try Geocaching. Check out our
website at www.mvs.usace.army.mil/marktwain or next week's paper for a full
list of activities that will take place on Earth Day.
We hope you can join us. Give us a call at the Mark Twain Lake Project
Office (573) 735-4097 if you have questions. Hope to see you there.
