Mark Twain Lake---April 10, 2009---Mark Twain Lake invites you to join
community members, wildlife groups, and both state and federal natural
resource management agencies in celebrating Earth Day at the Frank Russell
Recreation Area on April 25, 2009. Activities are scheduled to begin at 8:00
am and conclude at noon. Work efforts will focus on the development of the
new Northeast Missouri Environmental Stewardship Demonstration Area, an area
being developed to showcase effective and practical natural resource
stewardship practices.
Paraphrasing noted environmental journalist Larry West, Earth Day is a time
when people celebrate and renew their personal commitment to the environment.
By joining together, people can raise public awareness about the need for
increased conservation, and pledge to take better care of the planet we all
call home. It is our hope that you will join us in this celebration. To
learn more, please phone the Mark Twain Lake Project Office at 574-735-4097.
