Mark Twain Lake, May 31, 2018 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake is hosting a program entitled "The Secret Life of Trees" on Saturday, June 9 at 1 p.m. Learn about critters that rely on trees, and what trees need. Explore, play nature games and discover what secrets the trees might reveal to us. The program will be held at the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center. ![]() Mark Twain Lake, May 22, 2018 - The 4th of July is right around the corner, and there is no better way to spend your Independence Day holiday weekend than watching a firework display with friends and family at your favorite getaway, the Mark Twain Lake. The Mark Twain Lake Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce their partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a fireworks event. On Saturday, June 30, 2018 Mark Twain Lake goers are in for a fun treat! A fireworks show will take place at Clarence Cannon Dam at approximately 9:45 p.m. The show, produced by Fazz Holding, LLC. is expected to last an action-packed 20 to 25 minutes. Spectators can anticipate great booms and bright colors to be seen and heard from miles around the Mark Twain Lake area. Audiences are welcome to park vehicles in the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitors Center parking lot, at the Warren G. See Spillway Recreation Areas, or in any U.S. Army Corps of Engineers nearby lots. Please be aware Clarence Cannon Dam on Highway J will be blocked off for the duration of the fireworks display and you will not be able to travel through. Visitors are encouraged to explore some of the area attractions and businesses prior to the fireworks display. Be sure to stop in and visit M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitors Center as it will be open to the public for extended hours during this event. Mark Twain Lake, May 18, 2018 – In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake will host Kid’s Fishing Day on Saturday, June 9, 2018 for children five to twelve years of age. Participation will be limited to the first 25 children who register in advance at Mark Twain Lake Project Office by calling (573) 735-4097 or by stopping by the office on Rt. J north of the Clarence Cannon Dam. Registration will begin Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 7 a.m. No groups larger than four may register at any one time. Only those registered will be allowed to participate due to limited space.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Frank Russell Recreation Area. The Missouri Department of Conservation will provide fishing equipment. Experienced anglers will instruct young anglers on basic fishing techniques. Prizes for participation will be furnished by Hannibal Wal-Mart, Mexico Wal-Mart, Hobbie Hut, South Fork Resort, Cannon Dam General Store, Buckman’s Convenience Store and 154 Marine. Hickman’s IGA, Ruba’s General Store and C & R Grocery will provide lunch. |
