MARK TWAIN LAKE CAMPSITE RESERVATION POLICY REMAINS SAME IN 2019

10/18/2018

Monroe City, Missouri, October 18. 2018 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake have annouced there will be no change for the 2019 recreation season in how reservation and first come, first serve campsites are handled in both the Indian Creek and Ray Behrens Campgrounds.  The current system will remain in place.  However, please be aware that if there are changes noted in campground usage and camping trends, this decision will be re-evaluated, which may result in a change in policy in the future.

Visitor input is very important to lake staff.  Your input is used to improve the current operation of the campgrounds and other facilities and to aid in future planning for project improvements.  For further information or to comment, contact the M. W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center at 573-565-2112 or email marktwaininfo@usace.army.mil.

Annual Halloween Walk at Mark Twain Lake Oct. 19 & 20, 2018

10/4/2018

October 4, 2018, Mark Twain Lake - It's that time of year again when the Indian Creek Campground at Mark Twain Lake is full of family fun and spooky decorations. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Mark Twain Lake Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce the return of the Annual Halloween Walk Friday, October 19 and Saturday, October 20.  Event times are 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Friday and 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm on Saturday.  The Halloween Walk is a great chance for the little ones to "sharpen their trick-or-treating skills" and for the older kids to come see what all the excitement is about!  Everyone is invited to come in costume.  Pets are not allowed in the event area.  The Indian Creek Campground is located south of Monroe City.  Take Highway 24 to State Road HH.  Follow the signs to spooky fun!  And don't forget a flashlight to light your way on your journey around the campground.

The Mark Twain Lake Chamber of Commerce will be accepting a parking fee of $5.00 per vehicle for each night of the event to help provide visitor safety services and to cover other incidental expenses related to the event.  Shuttles will be available Saturday only.  Only registered campers who have paid a camping fee and show their correlating white vehicle hang tag issued by the Fee Booth upon campsite registration will be exempt from this charge. Having exact change upon approaching the event will help expedite wait time and reduce long lines at the entry point.

The Fox and Eagle Point loops will be closed to all vehicle traffic during event hours.  In order to provide a safe experience for participants and visitors, event organizers request that pets be left at home.  At this time, all reservation campsites have been reserved; non-reservation campsites will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis, in person only.  If you need additional information about the event, please contact the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center at 573.565.2112 or email us at marktwaininfo@usace.army.mil.

The M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center at the south end of Cannon Dam will be closed October 19 - October 21 in order for staff members to work at the Halloween event.
